Professor Andrea Fischer, DipECVN, DipACVIM, Dr. med. vet., Dr. habil. is apl. Professor of Veterinary Neurology at the veterinary faculty of LMU University of Munich and head of the neurology service at the Centre for Clinical Veterinary Medicine (LMU Munich). Andrea Fischer graduated from the veterinary faculty of LMU Munich in 1987 (DVM) and completed doctoral research for the Dr. med. vet. degree in 1990. She continued with specialization in veterinary neurology as a resident in veterinary neurology at the University of Georgia in the United States from 1992 - 1994. She is Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine for neurology and European College of Veterinary Neurology since 1995. She worked as an instructor at the University of Gainesville. USA in 1996 and completed postdoctoral research (Dr. habil.) in 2000 on return to LMU Munich. Prof. Andrea Fischer is head of the neurology service of the Centre for Veterinary Clinical Medicine since 2000 and apl. Professor of Veterinary Neurology since 2012. She is a member of the International Veterinary Epilepsy Task Force, served in the ECVN education committee and established the Veterinary Mobility Centre and the Epilepsy Consulting Unit at LMU University of Munich. She is author of numerous book chapters and original publications and supervisor of many doctorate students and residents.

Prof. Andrea Fischer studierte und promovierte an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München bevor sie sich an der University of Georgia (Athens, USA) auf Neurologie spezialisierte. Nach einem Lehrauftrag an der University of Florida (Gainesville, USA) ging sie zurück an die LMU München und habilitierte dort. Frau Prof. Andrea Fischer leitet die Abteilung Neurologie an der Medizinischen Kleintierklinik am Zentrum für Klinische Tiermedizin der LMU München und beschäftigt sich seit vielen Jahren intensiv mit neurologischen Erkrankungen bei Hund und Katze. Ihr großes Forschungsinteresse gilt der Epilepsie und den neuromuskulären Erkrankungen bei Hund und Katze. Sie ist Autorin zahlreicher wissenschaftlicher Artikel in renommierten Fachzeitschriften und eine gefragte Referentin auf Kongressen und Fortbildungsveranstaltungen.
